The Kirby Institute

The Kirby Institute is located at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, and is one of Australia’s leading research centres focusing on the prevention, treatment and pathogenesis of infectious disease. Established in 1986 as part of the Australian Government’s response to the then emerging HIV epidemic, the Kirby Institute is now funded through multiple sources and contributes to knowledge on a broad range of diseases, including viral hepatitis, sexually transmissible infections and neglected tropical diseases. Its work is conducted in Australia and internationally through partnerships with researchers, governments and communities.
